Drug monograph

A drug monograph is a summary of the scientific findings of a drug. The Commission E, ESCOP, WHO and the HMPC gave or give out such monographs and thus provide information on appearance, ingredients, effects, side effects, indications, dosage, including details relating to medicinal areas of use of a drug. The quality requirements for a drug and the testing methods prescribed for the quality are defined in the form of drug monographs in the European Pharmacopoeia and German Pharmacopoeia.
